The Gorgeous Dress

I can’t tell you how often I wanted to wear a dress out when my son was younger. The thought of having to struggle to remove my entire dress deterred me from doing so. I kid you not I once (or twice) asked if I could use a room to nurse my son at a gathering. For these reasons I was delighted to find a modern, stylish and feminine dress that is nursing friendly! This dresa from Harper & Bay is amazing! It has two zippers along the side to facilitate breastfeeding. You can’t even see them! It is soft and flowy, therefore very comfortable to wear. This long sleeve dress is perfect for fall, winter and spring. The soft blush color will definitely transition perfectly! It’s the one piece worth investing on. You can get it here. Oh and did I mention it has pockets! 😍

The shoes

I chose a raspberry pump to compliment the soft blush tone. This will give it a pop effortlessly! I am wearing my beloved Steve Madden but I found similar ones for you below p.s. they’re Kate Spade. 😍

It is a staple in every womans wardrobe. At least it should be; the little black dress. I found this beauty when searching for a dress to wear to a wedding when I was 6 months pregnant. I knew I wanted a timeless look that I could wear again, post maternity.  Many of these designer dresses are what I call investments for reasons that do not need further explanations. But I wouldn’t have it any other way! I actually found this elegant Michael Kors for only  $40! That only happens once in a lifetime of course! However don’t fret, I located a very similar one at an affordable price. Go ahead, this number will never go out of style.

The details

I like to balance certain areas of an outfit. For example notice the conservative length of the dress. It is what gives it elegance among things therefore it allows it to be provocative with its low cut neck line. As a young mama, you still want to feel a bit sexy no? This dress does exactly that. The material has stretch for a growing belly and for post-partum forgiveness of curves. The blush heel is ideal for spring and summer tying your look together. Click on the images below to shop. ☺

Sol Book Box for the bilingual family

Loving our Sol Book Box

Enjoying our Sol Book Box

Loved his theme items

English for me was my second language.  I was born and raised in Mexico therefore in school I learned how to read and write in Spanish. The same way, I learned English; through the school curriculum and daily repetition along with conversation. I realize our son will not have the same advantage. The schools do not teach Spanish until high school and even when earlier grades provide it, it is only a very small fraction of the entire day. I realize, if I want our son (which I do) to learn Spanish, it starts with me at home. I am his primary care giver. Our son does not go to daycare. I carve out a couple of hours a day for education. Whether it is reading education books, going through flashcards or interactive play. Since he was a newborn he was spoken to in Spanish therefore naturally in my “teachings” I often made an effort to translate all that I was reading/demonstrating to him. I cannot tell you how often I became stuck trying to remember how to say a particular word in Spanish. More importantly, how to say the PROPER word in Spanish. Afterall I would prefer he speak with slang to a minimum. 😄 For all of these reasons I am so excited to have found Sol book box.

January’s themed box

Sol book Box

This wonderful company is a monthly book subscription business that dedicates their teachings in books in the language Spanish. Every month has a different theme and the items are specially curated to perfectly compliment it. There are two types of box subscriptions according to age. The first is a board book box, for ages 0-2. This is the one we received. It comes with 2 Spanish or bilingual books and 3-4 items to go with the theme of that particular box! I’ll tell you more in the next paragraph! The second box is for ages 3-7 and it comes with a couple of hardcover books along with 2-3 items as well that match the theme.  Subscribing is very simple, you just simply select the type of box you’d like to receive as well as the frequency. You can do a month to month or pay in advance for 3, 6 and 12 months.

Our experience

Our son loved it! Our theme for January was colores! (Colors!) Both books were  English and Spanish. They were easy to follow along and had beautiful and unique drawings to catch my little guys eyes. I LOVED not having to stop the flow of reading to ask myself; “how the heck do I say that in Spanish?” Ha! Our box also came with a Sonaja (rattle), felt balls and a wooden puzzle. The noise itself that the rattle caused was enough for my son to continue banging it everywhere! He would toss it and pick it up. At one point we started dancing and singing with it. The felt balls were also a hit. The balls were of a variety of colors therefore I took the opportunity to tell him what color was the ball I was handing to him. We also counted them in Spanish and English naturally. There was not a time where he didn’t have one or two in his hand as I read him the books. Lastly the wood puzzle piqued his curiosity to put together and take apart dozens of times. Of course as we did both, I named each color the wooden part was in Spanish and English.

The Recommendation

Overall we enjoy this box very much. It keeps him engaged for a long time! And let me tell you that is not easy to do. It is perfect to set that foundation and allow him to expand his teachings as he grows older. I would highly recommend everyone raising a bilingual child to try a box! It also makes a wonderful gift! Dinner and a movie V-Day Outfit. The complete look.

Dinner and a movie V-Day Outfit. Photography by Jill Shaw.

I have had the pleasure of having different experiences for Valentine’s Day. I celebrate it as a big celebration worthy of fine dining therefore it what we have done for many years. However not every year can or will be the same therefore it is good and okay to be casual once in a while. Before we celebrated out wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day, we loved going out to dinner and a movie. This is an outfit I would absolutely rock to the occasion.

The Dress

It is a grey Brickyard Buffalo , loose-fitting, long sleeve dress. It is of thin fabric so it is perfect for not very cold climate locations such as Arizona, Texas, California etc. If you live in a very cold city, I would pair this dress with fleece black leggings and a heavy black coat. I would not mix another color due to the uniqueness of the grey color. I obtained this dress on sale back in November, however you can find a similar one here. P.s. It’s on sale!

The Booties.

The shoes are Chinese Laundry, black faux suede booties. I paired them with the dress because of the length. I am petite, 5’1″ to be exact therefore I need boots with a platform and a skinny heel to give me some presence! I’ve has these for a couple of years now so I found you similar ones here.

Love,
