5 Easy ways to be healthier in 2017

5 Healthy Habits in 2017

New year and new resolutions! It has been a whole year since I gave birth to our son as well as exclusively breastfed him. Therefore there are zero excuses to not kick things into gear this new year with healthier choices. I used to worry anything and everything would impact my milk supply. I believe it was what kept me from exercising or eating certain things. I am still careful of course but realize I can do many things to be healthier that won’t affect it. I promise these 5 changes are so easy, hardly any effort is needed. Whether you breastfeed or not.

Breakfast Time!

It is by far my favorite meal! And it IS absolutely the most important meal of the day. It is so important to eat something nutritious and filling as it is your fuel for the day. You want to be productive this new year right? Well you are in for a treat! Literally. I am going to share with you my favorite breakfast smoothie and how to make it.

Ingredients

Half a cup of Post® Honey Bunches of Oats®

1 Cup of Almond milk unsweetened

1 cup of cold coffee

1 frozen banana

1 tablespoon of almond butter

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 cup of plain greek yogurt

Instructions

In the blender add all ingredients to blend. Do not add ice. It is why the banana is frozen. This way it makes it chilli and never watery like ice cubes do. I peel a banana and place it in the freezer over night. I also brew my cup of coffee then place it in the fridge over night so it is cold in the morning. Pouring a hot cup of coffee over your frozen banana will definitely ruin it. If you forget simply place your brewed cup in the freezer until it is at least room temperature. It is also important that your ingredients are plain meaning no vanilla almond milk or no vanilla greek yogurt or flavored coffee.

I used to drink this smoothie without the cereal when my efforts were to lose weight and was incredibly successful. Now my goal is to maintain my weight and be healthy therefore Post® Honey Bunches of Oats® cereal not only gives my smoothie excellent texture but also completes my balanced breakfast meal and source of fiber!  You can get you Post® Honey Bunches of Oats® coupon HERE.

Water water water

I used to be terrible at drinking water! When I became pregnant, I made it a priority and everyone made me accountable. Well I have fallen off the boat since! Therefore this year I will go back to drinking 8 glasses of water daily! You heard me, now hold me accountable please.

Yoga and Meditation

I love yoga and everything it represents. I love how it makes me feel. I love how it improves my breathing. I love how it improves my posture. But most importantly I love how in peace it makes me feel. My days always are better after yoga because I am in a better mindset. This year I will go at least 30 minutes of yoga 5 days a week.

Walking

I had a desk job for so many years that I truly didn’t walk as much as I should have. I also live in a state where half the year it’s too hot to be outside. However I will make it work! Right now the weather is gorgeous therefore I will take my son to a minimum of 15-20 minute walk. I am loving all the fresh air also by the way.

Lastly my daily fruits and veggies

I’m not trying to sound cliché here but it is the most simple way to be healthier. I’m already having a banana at breakfast therefore I will incorporate steamed veggies for dinner. Simple enough right? It takes a whole 5 minutes!

What do think? I promised they were easy. Tell me your thoughts in the comments below and add any you think I should incorporate.

Love,

Angelica
